The Dancing Diva Foundation is inviting the community to get moving for a good cause this weekend.

Merrittonians are welcome to join a special Move-a-Thon that is happening tomorrow, July 12, at Smith Pioneer Park.

Kicking off at 9 a.m., the three-hour fitness fundraiser aims to help a local dance student, Kinley Stewart, to travel to Los Angeles for the prestigious Hollywood Summer Tour.

Participants can take part in a variety of events including pilates, cardio kickboxing, zumba, taekwondo, dance and guided meditation.

A minimum donation of $50 is required to participate in the six different fitness styles, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards covering Kinley’s trip expenses.

“The Dancing Diva Foundation is supporting Kinley on her adventure to LA, to take part in an intensive dance camp that she was offered a scholarship for at the Showtime Dance Competition in May,” Shawnee Kristan told the Herald.

“The Foundation takes great pride in helping Kinley reach her dreams in dance, the same way Kinley helped our Dancing Angel, Presley, reach her dreams through her mentorship. We are honoured to be able to provide this support and look forward to hearing about her time at this camp!”
