Classical Ballet Bun:
Step-by-Step Guide
You will need:
Hairbrush or comb
Hair elastic(s)
Hairpins/bobby pins
Hairnet (fine or crochet)
Optional: small flowers or bows
Steps:
Brush Hair Smooth:
Remove tangles and ensure hair is smooth.
Create a Ponytail:
Gather all hair and secure it with a hair elastic into a tight, smooth ponytail.
Twist the Ponytail:
Twist the ponytail tightly from the base to the ends.
Form the Bun:
Wrap the twisted hair around the base of the ponytail to form a circular bun shape.
Secure the Bun:
Use hairpins or bobby pins around the bun to hold it firmly in place. Push prongs of pin into the edge of the bun, pull to the outside edge and tuck pin in underneath the base of the bun.
Apply Hairnet:
Place a fine or crochet hairnet over the bun to keep stray hairs in place.
Secure the hairnet with a few pins if necessary.
Final Touches:
Smooth any flyaways with hairspray or gel if needed.
Jewelry
For safety reasons and to prevent damage to personal items, jewelry is not permitted, with the sole exceptions of pierced studs and medical alert bracelets.
